Pedro Acosta (GasGas Factory Racing Tech3) made his first runs in MotoGP this Tuesday, November 28, during the end-of-season tests which prepare for the upcoming championship.
Having just been promoted to the premier category after his Moto2 victory, the 19-year-old rider has some positive first impressions behind the wheel of his KTM.
" I am very happy, begins the Spanish. We started the day without touching the buttons, just to see what a MotoGP was, and I obviously made a few mistakes during my discovery. When I started to touch the buttons, it complicated things, since I made quite a few mistakes.
I activated the device and I said to myself: 'It's weird to be this low', he laughs. We made solid steps forward during the day, and that was important. The main thing was to understand how the electronics, the tires, the brakes work, to get an overall idea of each aspect and try to master what helps me go fast. »
A day which also marks its first appearance in defending another number than the one which saw him win his two crowns in Moto3 (2021), then in Moto2 (2023), where the now No. 31 will have experienced his first fall in the premier category.
“I saw some having speed going through the corner where I fell, and I said to myself: 'why not me?' Acosta admits with a laugh. It's a stupid mistake, but I think it's also good to experience these things now. »
Augusto Fernandez's garage neighbor is now heading towards Sepang (Malaysia) where the next MotoGP runs await him during the pre-season tests.
