Pedro Acosta aims for strong return to Australia

Pedro Acosta is looking to bounce back at Phillip Island after a weekend to forget at Motegi, where he crashed in both races.

After a short period of calm, the MotoGP is back to compete in a new Triple Header, which already precedes the finale of this 2024 season in Valencia. To do this, the discipline will take place on the famous Phillip Island track (Australia), a circuit often appreciated by drivers. While it is obviously important to start this new series of races on the right foot, Pedro Acosta will have to bounce back after the setbacks experienced in Japan.

While the Tech3 rookie took his first premier class pole position at Motegi, the 20-year-old driver continued the weekend with two crashes, while battling for victory in both the Sprint and the Main Race. Referring to the curse that sees him crash out of every first pole in the World Championship categories, the #31 did not waste his huge disappointment at not having converted the latter.

He will therefore ensure that Acosta rebuilds his confidence at the Australian Grand Prix, while he is still battling for the honorary title of best non-Ducati rider in the standings. A duel that he is engaged in with Brad Binder, who achieved this feat last year, finishing fourth, behind Marco Bezzecchi, Jorge Martin, and Pecco Bagnaia.

Although the event was complicated to say the least last year, due to capricious weather conditions, the Spaniard was rather successful in combating the cold in 2022. He thus secured one of the rare podiums that punctuated his first Moto2 campaign with a second place at Phillip Island.
