There will be some changes among the driver numbers next year. The arrival of new faces in the paddock MotoGP, and consequently the departure of others, could well give rise to some flocking changes within the paddock. First of all, the two rookies of the 2026 season are currently using numbers already taken.
Diogo Moreira, promoted to the LCR Honda team with Johann Zarco, currently sports the number 10 in Moto2. The same as Luca Marini. For his part, Toprak Razgatlıoğlu, who will join the Pramac Yamaha team, will have to give up the number 54 he uses in the World Superbike Championship, already borrowed by Fermín Aldeguer (Gresini Racing).
Other possible changes
The two men are not the first to have had to give up their number for their first year in MotoGP. The most recent example is Pedro Acosta. Moto2 and Moto3 world champion with the number 37, he had to give it up upon his promotion to the premier class, at the dawn of the 2024 season. After a year with the 31 on his fairing, Augusto Fernandez's departure from the category, however, allowed him to reclaim it.
Jorge Martín also had to make this sacrifice in 2021. Promoted to the big leagues, he gave up the number 88 – already used by Miguel Oliveira – to choose the number 89. The Portuguese, who will be heading to Superbike next year, will however give the current number 1 – the privilege of the reigning world champion – the opportunity to reclaim it.
