While Johann Zarco (LCR Honda) was celebrating a historic victory for him and France in MotoGP, fabio quartararo appeared before the media after a national race that had started like a dream, but quickly turned into a nightmare. While the disappointment of having crashed was present and legitimate, Quartararo quickly pointed out the positive points to come back from a weekend in Le Mans that saw him secure a second consecutive pole position in MotoGP.
"I think we can take a good look at the weekend, we don't have too much to complain about. We could see that we had a good weekend, we were almost always in the top 5. Second on Friday, pole on Saturday, 4the place in the Sprint and a good start to the race, little by little we are gaining experience. It's sad to see how it ended, we weren't very lucky either."
Sudden loss of lead and penalty
Like Brad Binder (KTM) at the same time, and the two other Yamahas of Jack Miller and Miguel Oliveira, both Pramac riders, Fabio Quartararo lost control of his YZR-M1 in the final corner of the Bugatti Circuit. This was certainly due to the changing conditions. Launched on slick tires on an increasingly greasy track, the 2021 world champion was unable to avoid sliding. Although he then wanted to restart with his machine, the stewards forbade him, given that he was in a dangerous area, close to the track. The French rider was also fined €2 as well as having his time reduced in FP000 at Silverstone, where he will not take part in the first ten minutes of the session. All this for having “behaved irresponsibly, disobeyed direct instructions from the stewards and caused potential danger.”

“I completely lost the front of the bike. I did my best, I didn't expect to lose the bike like that, but that's how it is. At Le Mans, it's always like that, you never know if it's going to rain or not. The rain wasn't really that heavy, I pushed quite hard in the first laps, and it went very well. When I took my long lap, I did it very well, and I could still push well. Then unfortunately I lost the bike because it was a bit wetter. I stayed there for three laps, and a rider was going off every lap! It's a shame, but I really enjoyed the weekend. We managed to show a good pace and good times. There are small bumps in this corner, and you can lose the bike quite quickly. The three Yamahas that went off did it at the same corner.” It's a shame, but I knew it was going to be difficult to finish on the podium and that I was going to have to push hard."
Quartararo's congratulations for Zarco
Fabio Quartararo, who carried the colors and hopes of France in MotoGP by winning his world title in 2021, knows he will still write beautiful pages in the history of motorcycling in our country. But this Sunday, May 11, 2025, it was obviously Johann Zarco who delighted the 120 spectators present in Sarthe. From a sporting perspective, he wanted to congratulate his compatriot, who had become the conductor in 000, when Fabio and Johann finished in the first two positions of the Grand Prix of Qatar.
"It's crazy, and I think it's the first time his mom has come to a race. It's a bit of a lucky charm for him; he should bring it with him! I can just imagine how Johann must feel in front of all those French fans. Well done to him." And after having made the French crowd gathered on the circuit explode with joy on Saturday, Fabio Quartararo would like to do the same on Sunday in the years to come, without a doubt...
