He was the only driver on the grid to choose to start with a hard front and soft rear tyre, Fabio Quartararo seemed generally satisfied with his result after the Indonesian GP.

By finishing seventh in the Indonesian GP of MotoGP, fabio quartararo achieved the essentials. After his retirement the day before, the Yamaha rider was even aiming for the top 6 or even the top 5 in this event, but managed to secure a place in a particular context. Indeed, as evidenced by the victory of Fermin Aldeguer, the good result of Raul Fernandez, or even the presence of Alex Rins on the virtual podium for a good part of the race, the Grand Prix was chaotic in more than one respect.

“I had fun! But when you see the speed you have in a straight line, it’s complicated to fight for more, he explained to Canal+. We made a choice with the soft tire which was difficult to manage, especially at the rear. We saw Alex Rins second who dropped to tenth place. I did my best, and I think our position today couldn't have been better."

Quartararo maximizes his performance

Although he was counting on a more convincing comeback at the start of the Grand Prix in particular, Fabio Quartararo was able to be satisfied with a consistent pace during this race. "In terms of pace, we didn't finish that far behind second, three seconds I think. After such a complicated weekend, I think we couldn't have hoped for better, he analyzed. Now we're going to take a little week to rest."

Quick to congratulate himself on his choice of tires, which was different from the rest of the field, the French driver compared his performance, which was more balanced and more consistent over time, to that of Alex Rins, who ultimately finished behind him at the finish.

"We remember that even though we struggled a bit all weekend, we managed to have a good race, to make some pretty daring decisions. I was the only one with the hard tire at the front, the only one with the soft tire at the rear... They were the only tires with which I had a good feeling, he finally detailed. The soft tire on the front had more grip, but a little less stability. In the last right-hand corner, he struggled a little (Rins). But on the rear tire, he overdid it a little. At some point, you had to manage. In a sprint race, it's fine, but in a longer race like this, the tire overheats a lot. I think that's what happened."
