July 19, 2020. While competing in the Spanish Grand Prix at Jerez de la Frontera, the first round of a championship disrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic, Marc Márquez suffered a violent crash on his Honda. Suffering a fractured right humerus, the Spaniard returned to competition five days later for free practice for the Andalusian Grand Prix on the same track. However, the pain was too great, and he was forced to retire. Thus began several years of doubt.

Struggling at first to regain satisfactory physical shape to ride a motorcycle, the number 93 then had to deal with a Honda that was very far behind the Ducati, who took advantage of this to dominate the MotoGP from 2022. At the end of 2023, Márquez launches and as the saying goes, if you can't beat your rivals, join them... Today, the choice of Marc Márquez is obvious, as he outrageously dominates the 2025 season riding the official Ducati.

« I'm in one of the best periods of my career, I have the same feelings as in 2019 or 2014, I'm riding very calmly but also very well.", he explained to the microphone of the official MotoGP website. “I bet on myself at the end of the 2023 season. I decided to give it a try with the best bike on the grid, to see if I could get back to my best. I did it. I'm really happy.”

While years of struggle are never easy to accept at the moment, Márquez has managed to find some positives in these difficulties. The Spanish rider, the youngest-ever world champion in the premier class in 2013, has grown, both personally and sportingly, through these difficult times.

« These five years have been very difficult, it's true, but at the same time I've grown a lot, personally and professionally. I'm more mature, calmer, and it's paying off. There are ten races left, I have a big advantage, but I have everything to lose. I must maintain total concentration until the victory."

A deliverance that could finally come quite quickly for the Catalan, if he continues to chain together weekends with 37 points, the maximum possible, and if his rivals, first and foremost his brother Álex, continue to lose points by not finishing races, or lower than second place...
