- The first day of action at the Argentine Grand Prix MotoGP begins on a drying track, the other two categories of the world championship not having been spared by the weather.
- Just like at the Thailand Grand Prix two weeks ago, Marc Marquez set the pace, setting a benchmark time of 1:39.991, ahead of his brother Alex. Only Frenchman Johann Zarco was running at the same time with a Honda, and occasionally came to disturb them at the top of the scoreboard.
- In the last ten minutes of the session, Marco Bezzecchi moved to the front with Aprilia, and three brands are now fighting for the honors of reigning at the top of the classification.
- After a quiet session with no major incidents, Marc Marquez took advantage of a 1:38.917 lap to finish the morning in the lead at Termas de Rio Hondo. Johann Zarco was just 26 seconds off the Spaniard's time, securing a surprise second place.
- The Frenchman thus aborted the Marquez brothers' attempt at a double, with Alex completing the top three.
- Honda started the weekend in the best possible way, securing three places in the top 10. Only rookie Somkiat Chantra failed to set a time that would allow him to move into the lead.
- Things seem more complicated for Yamaha, however, and fabio quartararo finished in thirteenth position.
- MotoGP will return to the track in the early evening to contest practice for the Argentine Grand Prix.
