Argentina – Race: The Marquez brothers strike again

  • As the lights went out, Marc Marquez retained his pole position advantage and took the lead into the first corner, ahead of his brother Alex. Behind him, Johann Zarco lost positions again at the start, but managed to hold off the attacks of the VR46 drivers to remain in fourth place.
  • The Frenchman, very aggressive in this first lap, then launched an attack on a struggling Pecco Bagnaia, but the Italian resisted. Marc Marquez thus completed the first lap in the lead ahead of his younger brother and his teammate, but Johann Zarco and the VR46 drivers, Franco Morbidelli and Fabio Di Giannantonio, did not let themselves be left behind anytime soon.
  • Johann Zarco continued to attack, but Pecco Bagnaia held firm. The two men lost valuable time to the leading duo, but not only that. Behind, Franco Morbidelli took advantage to steal his fourth place in the French category.
  • The scenario from the Thailand Grand Prix seems to be repeating itself, as after just a few laps, Alex Marquez overtook his older rider. At this stage of the race, it's difficult to confirm whether this overtake was done fairly, or if it was another lap by Marc Marquez to manage his tire pressure.
  • Behind the leading duo, Franco Morbidelli raised the pace. Putting in a string of fast laps, taking advantage of a softer tire choice, the Italian was the fastest driver on track. His pace not only allowed him to pull away from his teammate, but also to overtake Pecco Bagnaia, temporarily securing a spot on the podium.

Marc Marquez plays with his opponents

  • At the halfway point, the top three remain unchanged. Behind, Pecco Bagnaia is more than a second behind the leaders, under increasing threat from Johann Zarco.
  • Things settled down, and Marc Marquez seemed to be stalling behind Alex. With eight laps to go, he raised his voice again, while remaining cautious. Both drivers were on the limit, and each took turns making slight mistakes. It was at the end of lap 18 that the multiple world champion decided to launch his attack. He nevertheless went wide, and Alex Marquez retained the lead, while regaining a few tenths of a second.
  • The Marquez brothers were competing in a different category, setting lap records after lap. On the twentieth lap of the race, they put almost a second within sight of Franco Morbidelli. On the next lap, Marc Marquez finally launched a successful attack at the end of the straight, under braking.
  • The #93 then gave everything he could to widen the gap, and managed to put some distance between his Ducati GP25 and his opponent's Gresini GP24. In the space of three laps, he increased his lead to more than a second, and headed for victory.

Zarco beaten on the wire

  • While the game is over, Pecco Bagnaia comes to liven up the end of the race by spicing up the fight for the podium against Franco Morbidelli. Just behind them, Johann Zarco defends his fifth place against the other VR46 rider, Fabio Di Giannantonio.
  • If Bagnaia fails at the foot of the podium, Di Giannantonio snatches his fifth place from Johann Zarco. Franco Morbidelli thus takes his first podium in a main race since driving the Desmosedici GP24.
  • After two rounds, the Marquez brothers took control of the championship, and are now on four consecutive doubles, in all events.
  • The start was marked by Marco Bezzecchi's complete failure to brake. While trying to move away from the race line, the Italian touched the rider's bike. fabio quartararo and falls violently. The Frenchman keeps his balance, but his race is already ruined by the time he has lost.
  • Later, the third lap of the race saw Enea Bastianini go off the track, ruining his chances of points.
