Fabio Di Giannantonio finally reassures about his state of health. Injured in the right shoulder following a fall at the Sachsenring, the Italian dislocated his left shoulder a month later, during the Austrian Grand Prix. A shock from which he still suffers, and which will require an operation.
The question, however, was when this could take place. A dilemma then presented itself to the VR46 pilot : finish his season, and risk compromising his preparation for 2025, or abort the latter, in order to start 2025 in top form.
A crucial deadline for the man who will be entrusted with the latest specification of Ducati machines, under the new agreement that Borgo Panigale has with the team Valentino Rossi.
To help him make a choice, the number 49 visited his doctor last week, in order to obtain a precise diagnosis. On the sidelines of the Australian Grand Prix, Fabio Di Giannantonio nevertheless confirmed that he will finish the current campaign at the helm of his Desmosedici GP23, alongside Marco Bezzecchi.
“I felt better in Motegi, both on the bike and physically, confided the latter on the sidelines of the race at Phillip Island. I went home and used the week to rest and recover. I had medical check-ups.
One last effort
Handicapped in training as well as on the track, the Italian has not been able to exploit his full potential in this second half of the season. A dynamic that should be the same at the end of the championship, but which does not affect the motivation of the latter.
"I'm not 100%, this end of season is not going to be easy to manage, continues 'Diggia'. I will, however, be on track, and I will continue to give the best of myself to get back in the wake of the strongest drivers."
The task will not be easy for Di Giannantonio who is preparing to face a series of three Grands Prix, the Australian meeting directly preceding those which will be contested in Thailand and Malaysia in the space of three weeks. A week of rest will then be granted to the drivers and teams before the championship finale in Valencia (Spain), on the weekend of November 15 to 17.
