Barely time to catch your breath after a historic and eventful French Grand Prix at Le Mans before the paddock MotoGP is already heading towards another must-see event on its calendar: the Silverstone circuit. The venue for the British Grand Prix, the event was moved to May this season, whereas it usually takes place in mid-summer.
For Enea Bastianini, pilot Red Bull KTM Tech3, Silverstone is a stage like no other. The Italian shone there in 2024, winning both the sprint race and the main race, equipped with a factory team Ducati. This year, he arrives with the firm intention of repeating a special performance, even if he will have to deal with a long lap penalty to be served on Sunday. This is a consequence of his involvement in the first-lap collision at Le Mans.
« Le Mans was crazy, that's for sure, emphasizes once again Aeneas Bastianini. Despite all the penalties, we managed to show decent pace in the race and score points. We are now focused on Silverstone, a circuit I really like and where I am normally fast."
Enea Bastianini penalized on the sidelines of the weekend
What's different compared to last year is, above all, the Italian's machine. Now riding a KTM RC16, whose secrets he hasn't yet discovered, Enea Bastianini could well take advantage of a circuit where he feels comfortable to have a moment of inspiration.
“It will be interesting to see how the KTM performs on this track, He continues. We have a long lap penalty to serve in the race, it's not ideal, but let's focus on doing a good job from Friday and trying to get a better grid position before our penalty."
Alongside Bastianini, Maverick Viñales also arrives full of confidence after an excellent weekend at Le Mans, punctuated by a fifth place in qualifying, sprint and race.
“We feel better and better with every race weekend, and the goal is to keep this momentum going. I’m confident we’ll get closer and closer to the best. Let’s see how it goes this week at Silverstone. The weather is always tricky there, but I guess we got a bit of practice last week in France.” concludes the Spaniard on a humorous note.
