After 1414 days of waiting, Franco Morbidelli has finally returned to success in MotoGPAt the Argentine Grand Prix, the Italian VR46 driver took an impressive third place, marking his return to the podium of a Grand Prix for the first time since May 2021.
This performance marks the end of a difficult period for Morbidelli, who has had to overcome numerous obstacles in recent years. Between a knee injury, complicated seasons at Yamaha and a difficult adaptation to the GP24 last year at Pramac, the Italian rider's return to action was fraught with obstacles.
“For four years, we hung on!” told Morbidelli, emotional after the race. After 22 races on his GP24, 20 last year and 2 this year, he finally made it.
“It’s an incredible feeling, He continues. The team deserves this. We've started the season well since the start of testing. We've started working on our weak points and have been improving step by step. It's very emotional to get the first podium with the team and for the team in South America."
This podium finish holds special significance for Morbidelli and the VR46 team, which clearly has a special connection to the circuit. As a reminder, during the previous edition, in 2023, Marco Bezzecchi won with the Italian team.
Despite this success, Morbidelli remains clear-headed about the challenges that await him for the rest of the season. "We've started the season well since testing began. We've started working on our weak points. And we've improved little by little. We need to improve in some areas, like our starting position."
