The 19th round of the 2025 season MotoGP is launched in Australia. This morning, in the cool temperatures surrounding the Phillip Island circuit, the riders took part in Free Practice 1. On home soil, it was Jack Miller who set the fastest time with his Yamaha, in a final effort completed in 1:28.291.

Ducati struggled to get going in Australia. Without Marc Marquez, who still has a collarbone injury, the team suffered a series of complications at the start of the session. Franco Morbidelli opened the session with a crash. Pecco Bagnaia, meanwhile, was very uncomfortable on the Desmosedici GP. Alex Marquez finally made up for the brand's early Friday, setting the second-fastest time of the session, in 1:28.317.

At KTM, Brad Binder claimed the fastest time of the session for a time, before falling down the order. The Austrian manufacturer's first machine was none other than Pedro Acosta, 3rd ahead of Fermin Aldeguer, despite a scare that required a miraculous rescue. Replacing Maverick Vinales, Pol Espargaro finished 16th, ahead of Enea Bastianini, 15th.

On the French side, fabio quartararo finished second best Yamaha, with the fifth fastest time. The Nice native finished ahead of Marco Bezzecchi's Aprilia. Johann Zarco (Honda) also finished this FP1 in the top 10, with the 8th fastest time, just behind Pecco Bagnaia.
