- Martin has a date with his destiny during this race MotoGP in Malaysia. As he starts behind Pecco Bagnaia, with a choice of harder tires, the championship leader must score nine points more than the latter to win the title.
- The track is completely dry before the start, and the heat is on. When the lights go out, Martin takes huge risks, and almost hits Bagnaia at the first braking point. However, he has to move aside, and the number 1 keeps the lead of the race.
- The race was however interrupted by an incident in the peloton. Jack Miller fell, taking fabio quartararo and Brad Binder in his crash. All the drivers were conscious, but the Australian was injured when he hit the Frenchman's rear wheel. He was taken off the track by ambulance. Race control later stated that he had no serious injuries.

- The race therefore restarted about fifteen minutes later with the initial starting grid. The event was reduced by three laps, to only have 19 laps.
- Brad Binder will not take the second start of the race, as will his injured garage neighbour. Fabio Quartararo is therefore the only one of the three drivers involved to appear on the starting grid.
- The lights go out again, and this time Bagnaia leaves Martin no choice, and crosses the first sequence in the lead. Marc Marquez quickly takes the wheel of the first two and the top-3 escapes. Martin does not delay in attacking Bagnaia, and after an initial offensive, the Spaniard passes, but Bagnaia resists. They will thus exchange the lead about ten times during the first absolutely spectacular laps. Despite these exchanges of arms, the two leaders are the fastest on the track. Only Marc Marquez manages to keep the pace.
Full respect to them both!
This is two of the best riders on earth riding at their absolute best with everything on the line!

- While Joan Mir crashes halfway through the race, Franco Morbidelli does the same in turn 9. Marc Marquez also loses the front of his machine in the last corner of the circuit. The two Ducati riders, however, start again at the back of the pack in the hope of saving a few points.
- At the front, things settle down, and Bagnaia gradually takes off. He thus distances Jorge Martín by two seconds, and heads towards a potential victory.
- Jorge Martín, however, did not say his last word, and took advantage of his choice of harder tires to try to close the gap during the last five laps. However, he lost the front at turn 9, and almost fell. The n°89 then showed more caution until the finish.
- Pecco Bagnaia wins the MotoGP race in Malaysia, and with it a tenth victory this season, in nineteen rounds. Only Marc Marquez, Valentino Rossi and Casey Stoner have achieved such a feat before. The Italian is back to 24 points from the championship lead: the title will be decided in two weeks in Barcelona, if Dorna confirms the holding of the last event in Catalonia.
- Enea Bastianini completed the top three. Marc Marquez finished twelfth, and kept a one-point lead over the Italian for third place in the championship.
- Fabio Quartararo takes advantage of some racing incidents to maintain his sixth position. Johann Zarco fails to reach the top 10, after losing two positions following an aggressive attack by Marco Bezzecchi.
