After exploring the four corners of the globe, the MotoGP is setting up camp on the old continent to begin a long European tour, which will end at the same time as the summer. This weekend, the Spanish GP will kick things off, on the famous Jerez circuit.
This will be the home Grand Prix for half of the riders on the grid. While reigning champion Jorge Martín has already withdrawn due to injury, two of his compatriots will join the party. Augusto Fernandez continues to replace Miguel Oliveira for Pramac Racing, while Aleix Espargaro will make his first appearance as a wildcard for Honda.
Marc Marquez, who has been in excellent form since the start of the season, has yet to concede a Sprint victory, while he only missed out on first place in a main race at the Grand Prix of the Americas. The championship leader is therefore once again the favorite this weekend, despite not having won the event since the 2019 Spanish Grand Prix.
Please note that the day after the race, the traditional Jerez Official Test will be held. This is the first of three days of official testing organized during the season.
