The 2026 livery of the Yamaha M1, first MotoGP The Yamaha 3S, a V4-powered motorcycle from the tuning fork brand, was unveiled this Wednesday. The event took place as part of Yamaha Motor Indonesia's 3S Dealer Meeting, the world's largest gathering of Yamaha dealers, held at the InterContinental Jakarta in Indonesia.

Retaining its familiar blue and black color scheme, the Japanese manufacturer is refreshing its livery this year with more white. This presentation thus opens a new technical chapter in Iwata's history, maintaining its ambition to bring back fabio quartararo and Álex Rins in a position to regularly play leading roles.

“2026 marks the beginning of the V4 era for Yamaha, and it’s an exciting chapter,” "Takahiro Sumi, president of Yamaha Motor Racing, confided when questioned on stage. But this requires discipline, data, and the dedication of everyone involved: our factory in Japan, Yamaha Motor Racing in Italy, the factory teams, and our test team. The parallel development of three platforms last year gave us the foundation for this year, so we can now focus on developing the 2026 M1 with the new V4 engine while continuing to work on the 2027 prototype. He pursues : “We have already seen encouraging signs: improved braking stability, better acceleration potential, and a more consistent feel on long runs. Early-season success won't be measured solely by results; every lap provides valuable insights that will help us progress. Our goal for 2026 is to accelerate the pace of development and ensure seamless integration between design, testing, and racing. We are striving to constantly improve our momentum, and the results will follow.”

After making his Yamaha debut in 2024, Álex Rins will retain his seat in 2026. Despite two contrasting seasons, he remains an asset to Yamaha in its ability to develop a project. Alongside him, Fabio Quartararo issued an ultimatum to Yamaha at the end of last season and expects to be able to compete at the front from the very first Grands Prix of the year, otherwise he reserves the right to look elsewhere.

The upcoming MotoGP season promises to be intense, with 22 Grands Prix and 44 races (including Sprints) on the schedule. Yamaha riders will have the opportunity to put the new M1 through its paces at the end of the month during the Sepang Shakedown (January 29-31). These three days of testing are reserved exclusively for rookies, test riders, and riders from Tier D manufacturers in dealerships, as is the case for Yamaha.
