8 Hours of Spa Motos - H+1: The #37 BMW has done the hardest part

After one hour of racing, the BMW No. 37 maintains its lead in the 2026 Spa 8 Hours Motos ahead of Honda and Yamaha.

The 2026 Spa 8 Hours Motos race started at 13:00 PM in the Belgian Ardennes, and the 45 entered machines have already been running for an hour on the Spa-Francorchamps circuit. At the start, which took place on a dry track after a mostly rainy weekend, Markus Reiterberger did what he considered the toughest part with the #37 BMW.

Starting from pole position, the driver who took the start before completing the first stint on the local machine managed to maintain his lead. While finishing the first hour in first place is a definite advantage, nothing is yet decided at Spa where the weather is looking increasingly threatening.

Behind BMW, the defending champion Honda #5 is 5 seconds back, just ahead of the YART Yamaha #1, which had a turbulent start. Starting second on the grid, the reigning champions dropped to 7th place after one lap before gradually working their way back through the field. Marvin Fritz put the Austrian team back in the top 3 just before the hour mark, overtaking the Kawasaki #11. The other Belgian machine competing in the EWC, the KM99 Marc VDS team, which includes Randy de Puniet, currently completes the top 5.

The SERT Suzuki #12 suffered its first setback in the 2026 Spa 8 Hours, crashing at turn 6 and dropping them out of the top 20. Off the track, over 11,000 people came to watch the second round of the World Championship.Endurance Motorcycle this Saturday.
