- While he is 14 units behind Francesco Bagnaia before the weekend's events, Jorge Martin immediately gains confidence by setting the best time in EL1 in 1:56.393. The Italian is not far away, however, since his time of 1:56.622 places him in third position, only two tenths behind #89.
- Johann Zarco (+0.172) creates a surprise and places himself between the two contenders for the world crown, allowing Pramac to win a double. The Frenchman declared on the sidelines of the weekend that he had had good feelings in the past at Losail, which seemed to be confirmed from the start of hostilities.
- Raul Fernandez (4th) and Franco Morbidelli (5th) complete the top 5 while the times are generally very similar at the end of this first driving session, since the top 10 is held by only 5 tenths.
- The Hondas of Marc Marquez and Joan Mir once again started a Grand Prix in great difficulty and did no better than 19th and 20th.
- Iker Lecuona, who is taking part in a meeting for the fifth time, replacing Alex Rins, ranks 21st.
