fabio quartararo had one of his best weekends of the year at Misano, scoring points both in the Sprint, which he finished in ninth position, and in the main race, which he finished in seventh place.
A weekend rich in learning, on a track with high grip, more favorable to the M1 whose faults we do not always manage to identify due to a constant lack of grip.
"We did more than learn, I saw the weak points of our bike again, Quartararo confided last Sunday. CIt's good to have done this race. We finished 3 seconds behind fourth, it's cool. But we can clearly see what we're missing: grip and speed.
There was less grip today because the track was wet, He continues. It's better for us when there's more grip, because the difference with the others is smaller. The less grey there is, the bigger our performance deficit is."
A Grand Prix which the Frenchman does not, however, have an entirely positive assessment of, placing his expectations upwards at the end of the season.
"So it wasn't catastrophic, but it's not encouraging either, adds Quartararo. Without the rain, I think we could have fought for the same position, although it's hard to say."
After the weekend's hostilities, the teams remained on site to complete the last day of official testing to be held during the season.
An encouraging Official Test at Misano
Although rain had fallen on the track on Sunday night, the weather was rather mild on this day, and Fabio Quartararo, like his team-mate, Alex Rins, took advantage of it to complete as many laps as possible, testing many things that could be put to the test in just under two weeks on the same track.
Le MotoGP performing again at Misano on the occasion of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, replacing the Indian Grand Prix, cancelled earlier in the season.
"We tried quite a few things, Explain the 2021 world champion. We had the chassis to try, and that was a small step in the right direction. Today we also tested a few setups we’ve never tried before, as well as a new engine prototype for 2025 – just the first step – and some electronics.
It was pretty good. I think we found a good way to proceed with this new chassis. Hopefully we can make another step forward in terms of grip and engine power before the end of the season so we can always fight for better positions,” concludes Fabio Quartararo.
