Thailand – EL1: Marco Bezzecchi leads a top-6 Ducati

Fastest Bezzecchi in Buriram - Michelin

  • Le MotoGP continues its Asian tour and this time sets up shop in the paddock of the Chang circuit in Thailand. The weather should spare the drivers from the rain. However, it is the heat that should represent a major constraint this weekend.
  • After a major crash last week during the Australian GP Sprint, Marco Bezzecchi bounced back in the best possible way. The Italian truly dominated the first part of the session, during which he set a time of 1:30.492. Francesco Bagnaia, Jorge Martin and Marc Marquez completed the top four within two tenths.
  • While the four men are neck and neck, they represent the only Ducati riders to be in the top-9 with twelve minutes to go in the session. Behind them, the KTMs of Pedro Acosta and Jack Miller. Or the Honda of Takaaki Nakagami and the Yamaha of fabio quartararo. All of these are grouped together in just six tenths. Ducati should be expected to take the lead as the weekend progresses. However, this afternoon's tests could be more competitive than expected.
  • Little changed on the scoreboard at the end of the session. Bagnaia and Martin tried to improve, but were unable to overtake Bezzecchi in sectors 3 and 4, where they lost their advantage at each attempt. The four leaders kept their rankings, with Alex Marquez and Enea Bastianini putting things back in order for Ducati. The two men came to block the fifth and sixth places of these FP1.
  • Fabio Quartararo finally finished tenth. Johann Zarco finished this outing in sixteenth place. Just two tenths behind the ninth place defended by his garage neighbour. Seven tenths behind the leader of the standings.
  • The next session of the weekend will already count towards the qualifying phase of the Thailand GP. It will start at around 10:00 in France.
