After the Shakedown and the Sepang (Malaysia) tests, the MotoGP has settled in Thailand, in Buriram, for a final shakedown before the start of the 2026 season. The first round of tests in Sepang had confirmed the dominance of the Italian manufacturer Ducati.

The Márquez brothers opened and closed the tests with the fastest times of the week, 1:57.018 for Marc (Ducati) and 1:56.402 for Álex (Gresini). The riders equipped with the Desmosedici GP26 – Fabio Di Giannantonio (VR46), Marc Márquez, Pecco Bagnaia, and Álex Márquez – were also the only ones to break the 1:57 barrier on the final day at Sepang.

Still with Ducati, Pecco Bagnaia looked comfortable on his new machine and will have to confirm his pace on a circuit which he likes less than Sepang.

However, the picture is less rosy for Yamaha, with a new V4 engine that has proven unreliable so far. Indeed, no YZR-M1s took to the track on the second day of testing at Sepang due to a technical problem discovered on the bike. fabio quartararoHaving crashed on the first day, the Frenchman fractured his finger and was forced to miss the rest of the tests.

Suffering from a broken femur, Fermín Aldeguer (Gresini) will miss these tests and the opening round of the championship in Thailand. The Spaniard will be replaced by Michele Pirro. Conversely, Jorge Martín (Aprilia) will travel to Buriram after missing the Sepang tests, recovering from two operations during the winter break. His participation, however, is contingent upon approval from the FIM.

Among the rookies, Toprak Razgatlıoğlu (Pramac) had a more difficult start during the Shakedown and then the pre-season tests in Sepang and will have to take advantage of this last opportunity before the launch to regain confidence.

These tests will not be broadcast on television, but daily summaries will be available on AUTOhebdo.fr before the opening round of the season, scheduled for March 1, 2026, again in Buriram.

It's a shame this test isn't being broadcast in France because this morning Motosan published an article and the two-day test will be broadcast in its entirety on the DAZN channel from 4 a.m. to noon.
