The Grand Prix Commission met in December to discuss some modifications to the technical regulations with a view to 2024. The team of decision-makers made up of Carmelo Ezpeleta (President of Dorna), Paul Duparc (FIM), Hervé Poncharal (IRTA ) and Biense Bierma (MSMA), and Mike Webb (IRTA, Secretary of the meeting), notably debated the minimum age for racing in Grand Prix.

While an increase in this minimum age in recent seasons had interrupted the trajectory of certain young drivers whose careers had begun before these limits came into account, the existing exceptions will be widened.

Thus the first three in the general classification of the FIM JuniorGP World Championship and the Red Bull Rookies Cup, will have the opportunity to compete in the Moto3 World Championship before the age of 18, from the moment they are mathematically assured of a place among this top 3. The riders concerned must, however, be at least 17 years old.

A similar exception will be applied to the winner of the European Moto2 Championship, to participate in the Moto2 World Championship.

The specifications MotoGP fuel for 2024 definitively set

The 2024 regulations which will impose the use of 40% non-fossil fuels was also an already known measure that the Grand Prix Commission introduced into the regulations after the December discussions. As a reminder, the rule intervenes in the objective of MotoGP to use 100% non-fossil fuel from 2027.

The detailed specifications of this measure, such as the Test parameters for 2024, are now being introduced into the regulation after an agreement between the governing institutions, as well as the fuel suppliers, has been agreed.
