Whether you like the Sprint or not, it is now an integral part of the race weekends of the MotoGP. Introduced at the start of the 2023 season, the competition format which awards points on Saturday made it possible to reveal kings of the shortened event, as well as drivers who did not use it to their advantage.
It is therefore always interesting to compare the changes that take place at the world championship when we subtract the points scored during these events. In 2024, after nine rounds, the Drivers' ranking would be radically different without the latter, as some of the leaders have not made it their strength.
First of all, the leader would still be called Francesco Bagnaia, but the latter would have already left Jorge Martín well behind. A true king of the Sprint, Martin has only finished outside the top 3 twice this season in the short term, when his rival already has three retirements.
The Italian would therefore be more than thirty points ahead, where he only has 10. Enea Bastianini would be in contact with the Spaniard, around fifteen points behind second place. Currently fourth in the championship, he would therefore move ahead of Marc Márquez, who only pocketed 108 units on Sunday.

In difficulty with his Ducati on Saturday, Fabio Di Giannantonio has only scored fifteen points in Sprint since the start of the season. Without this thorn in the side, the VR46 driver would occupy sixth place in the table. Only a few points behind Brad Binder, but above all ahead of Pedro Acosta, regular candidate for the podium just after qualifying.
The 2024 MotoGP Drivers' Ranking without points scored in Sprint:
- Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo): 177 points
- Jorge Martín (Pramac Ducati): 135 points
- Enea Bastianini (Ducati Lenovo): 120 points
