What is the status of the MotoGP Grand Prix contracts?

An overview of the Grand Prix and their contracts linking them to MotoGP as the 2026 mid-season approaches.

The season of MotoGP The season is already well underway, with a calendar almost identical to that of previous years. However, a quarter of the races do not yet have a longer-term contract with the sport. While the machines will be transformed in 2027, on the cusp of a major technical revolution, the calendar itself could hold a few surprises. This provides an opportunity to examine the expiration dates of the contracts currently in place between the circuits and MotoGP.

Among those who do not yet have a long-term agreement are pillars of the MotoGP calendar, such as Mugello, host of the Italian Grand Prix, or the Phillip Island circuit, which the discipline will no longer visit beyond the 2026 season, replaced by a Grand Prix in Adelaide.

Others, on the contrary, are already guaranteed to host the discipline for the next five years. This is particularly the case of the French Grand Prix, which has been presented for several years as the flagship event of the MotoGP tour, given its unparalleled popularity. The event, organized by Claude Michy on the Bugatti circuit in Le Mans, currently has an agreement until 2031.

This is also the case for the Thai Grand Prix, whose lease has been extended until 2031, guaranteeing it five more editions. Integrated into the MotoGP calendar in 2018, the event is gaining increasing importance, as it was the opening round of the championship in 2026 for the second consecutive year.
