At 28, Villars is the first woman to run for president of the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile. Currently a driver in the Ligier European Series, she has notably driven in the Ultimate Cup Series and in the Ferrari Challenge. Like Tim Mayer, Laura Villars wants to offer more transparency in her approach to running the FIA.
"The FIA must once again become the federation of clubs and licensees. My ambition: more democratic, more transparent, more responsible governance, open to women and new generations. I am convinced that motorsport needs diversity and innovation to continue to inspire younger generations around the world."
Among its proposals, we find:
- Giving more weight to clubs through regular consultations and participatory governance.
- Strengthen financial and institutional transparency.
- Create an “FIA Eco-Performance” label to reward exemplary clubs and events in sustainability.
- Strengthen the Women in Motorsport program (Girls on Track, mentoring) and launch an FIA Young Leaders Academy.
- Position the FIA as a global benchmark in sustainable mobility and road safety.
The FIA presidential election will take place on December 12 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Elected in 2021 following Jean Todt's presidency, Mohammed Ben Sulayem is seeking a second term at the helm of the world governing body. Former FIA steward Tim Mayer, an American, is the other declared candidate in what is now a three-way race.

Excellent news that we hope will bring a little sensitivity to F1, among other things.
