Cian Shields to remain with AIX Racing in 2026

Thanks to Taylor Barnard and Joshua Dürksen, AIX has had some great moments in recent months. The Briton, who will be competing in 2024, managed to win the sprint race in the streets of Monaco before joining McLaren en Formula EThe Paraguayan, for his part, achieved a podium finish at Imola (3rd) and a victory in Abu Dhabi in 2024. This year, Dürksen is once again leading his team with a Sprint victory in Melbourne and two podium finishes in the last two rounds at Monza and Baku.

However, the Paraguayan will no longer be at AIX next year. While waiting to find out what his future holds, the Emirati team has announced the extension of Cian Shields, who, however, does not have the results of his teammate. With no points scored and an eleventh place at Imola as his best result, the Scot is not performing at the expected level.

Dürksen leaves, where is AIX going?

However, he will be back on the grid, alongside Emerson Fittipaldi Jr., who arrives with even fewer credentials (currently 11th in Eurocup-3). Unsurprisingly, AIX will therefore not be aiming for the title next year, but given the level of its driver duo, scoring points will already be a great achievement.

It remains to be seen whether Cian Shields can reveal himself in his second year in Formula 2 and finally open his points tally.
