Martins on pole more than a year later, Bortoleto and Hadjar do not let go 

He had announced that he wanted to end the season on a high note, Victor Martins (ART Grand Prix) is keeping his word for the moment. Performing well in Qatar last weekend but poorly rewarded in the race, the Tricolore responded this Friday in Abu Dhabi.

In the rhythm from the free practice in the morning, the protégé ofAlpine confirmed a few hours later with pole position, his fourth in Formula 2 and the first since Silverstone in July 2023. While Gabriel Bortoleto (Invicta Racing) dominated the first part of qualifying, Victor Martins raised the tone in the final minutes and took the lead 4 minutes from the end with a time of 1'35"745, ahead of the Brazilian by 35 thousandths while Isack Hadjar (Campos) remained in ambush in third position 0"128 behind his compatriot.

The red flag caused by Rafael Villagomez's (VAR) exit offered a rest period before qualifying was restarted for a final push run. Unfortunately, no one really managed to improve except for Paul Aron (Hitech GP) who slotted into third position between Gabriel Bortoleto and Isack Hadjar. Dino Beganovic (DAMS) completed the Top 5.

Tenth in these qualifications, Amaury Cordeel (Hitech GP) inherited pole position for the Sprint Race this Saturday (13:15 p.m.).
