Despite a remarkable start and truly unparalleled reaction time, Joshua Dürksen (AIX Racing) couldn't maintain his lead. Overtaken by Richard Verschoor (MP Motorsport), the Paraguayan ultimately secured second place, behind the Dutchman who hasn't relinquished his title hopes after this Sprint. Rafael Villagomez (VAR) completed the podium in third, while young Nikola Tsolov (Campos) still had a shot at the final step of the podium until the very last lap.
This eventful final lap proved to be the deciding factor for many drivers. Nikola Tsolov, running third, was initially attacked on the outside by Joshua Dürksen, losing his third-place position, before becoming overly aggressive in his defense. From the outside of the track, the Bulgarian Lion lost control of his car, ultimately securing a disappointing tenth place despite a solid race.
Finishing sixth, Leonardo Fornaroli (Invicta) ultimately made a good result, scoring three points and maintaining his lead in the championship. However, Jak Crawford (DAMS) and Luke Browning (Hitech) lost further ground to the leader, finishing eighth and 17th respectively. Also of note was the very difficult final lap for Arvid Lindblad (18th), who was announced as F1 on the Racing Bulls side. In difficulty, the Briton however saw the two Trident drivers collide during the race, while Kush Maini and Cian Shields were also forced to retire.
Still possibly clinching the title this Sunday, Leonardo Fornaroli will try to convert his pole position into a victory in the main race, starting at 13 p.m. (French time) in Losail.
