René Rosin assesses Prema's season: "We need to do a better job"

Apart from the performances seen in FRECA with Freddie Slater's victory, and in Italian F4 (Kean Nakamura-Berta won by a considerable margin), Prema did not live up to expectations. Formula 2 and Formula 3. Outclassed, unable to compete sustainably for the top spots, the drivers involved this season nevertheless held great promise.

"I can say without hesitation that this was not the season we were hoping for." said René Rosin, head of Prema, when reviewing the year 2025. “We started the championship with a pole position in Melbourne (in Formula 2), but then we received a penalty for obstructing Gabriele (Mini), which forced us to start from fourth place. But the race never took place due to the extremely wet weather conditions, and after that, it was a bit of a rollercoaster.”

While in F3, profiles such as those of Noel Leon and Ugo Ugochukwu have somewhat disappointed compared to initial expectations, F2 has also not allowed Gabriele Mini and Sebastian Montoya to show consistency. “There were positives, good results and good qualifying performances for Sebastián (Montoya) and also for Gabriele, who finished strong in Abu Dhabi, where he delivered a superb performance. Unfortunately, some retirements were beyond our control, so in the end, the potential was much greater than the standings suggested.”

Prema is aiming for 2026

Next year, the team lineup will change for the Italian team. Mari Boya and Sebastian Montoya will be the drivers in F2, while Frenchman Enzo Deligny, along with Oceania natives James Wharton and Louis Sharp, will form the F3 trio. "We need to work even harder during the winter break, analyze the positives and negatives, learn from our experiences and approach next season with this partially renewed team for 2026." René Rosin analyzed.

“Honestly, the level of the championship is incredibly high. The level of the teams is very high; they all have a real shot at winning. With a good driver pairing and a good team, you can achieve excellent results. Honestly, we just need to keep working. We also need to do a better job overall.” he admitsWe need to raise our standards; we need to try to question ourselves in order to take one step back and two steps forward.
