The end of season tests of the Formula 2 took place this Thursday, December 16 in Abu Dhabi, where Oscar piastri validated his championship title last weekend. The best time of the day was set by Jehan Daruvala (Prema Racing) in 1:35.435, dominating the afternoon session. The Indian, winner of the last sprint race of the season on the same Yas Marina track, beat Felipe Drugovich (MP Motorsport) by 0.358 and Jack Doohan (UNI-Virtuosi) by 0.416. The first Frenchman, Theo Pourchaire (ART Grand Prix), finished fourth in 1:35.981.
The Habs had only taken 20th place in the morning, hampered by engine and gearbox problems. This morning session, marked by several red flags for cars stopped in various places on the track, saw Drugovich finish at the top of the timesheet in 1:35.577. The Brazilian finished ahead of Daruvala by less than a tenth (+ 0.045) and already Doohan (+ 0.478). The champion of F3, Dennis Hauger (Prema Racing), set the 10th time of the afternoon, 1.525 behind his teammate Daruvala.
The second day of testing will begin this Friday at 9 a.m. local time.
