Almost a month after the last meeting of Formula 2, the antechamber of the Formula 1 is preparing to deliver a new scenario at Imola. Following Richard Verschoor's (MP Motorsport) notable success in Jeddah, the Dutchman took the lead in the championship. This round also saw Arvid Lindblad's first sprint victory, making him the youngest winner in the category's history.
On the side of Formula 3, Rafael Câmara had once again dominated the proceedings in Bahrain. While Nikola Tsolov won the sprint race, the Sakhir circuit also hosted the first participation of Freddie Salter's young career in F3, second in the sprint in his only stint of the season at this stage. The Briton, competing in FRECA, will not be in the race at Imola.
Last year, Frenchman Isack Hadjar won the Formula 2 main race, despite Gabriel Bortoleto having secured pole position the day before. Franco Colapinto, meanwhile, won the sprint race. In Formula 3, Oliver Goethe won the main race, while Frenchman Sami Megetounif was the first to cross the finish line in the sprint.
