Barcelona – Qualifying: Third consecutive pole position for Théophile Naël

Dominating from the start of free practice, Théophile Naël secured his third pole position of the season. The F3 driver follows up his pole positions in Monaco and Melbourne.

Théophile Naël continues his winning streak. The French driver from Campos secured his third consecutive pole position in Formula 3 This Friday in Barcelona, he clocked a time of 1:28.263 — a time that improves by half a second on Rafael Câmara's pole position from last year on the same circuit. The Frenchman, who had already dominated the morning's free practice sessions with Campos taking the top three positions, confirmed his excellent form by also setting the three fastest sector times of the session.

His American teammate Ugo Ugochukwu slotted into second place, just 39 thousandths of a second behind—a sibling rivalry within the Campos team that has become a hallmark of these season's qualifying sessions, with the two drivers regularly trading blows. Campos, who had impressed this morning with all three of his cars in the top three positions under 1:29.000, confirmed his collective dominance, even though the competition managed to close the gaps in the official session.

Among the other French drivers, Enzo Deligny qualified eighth after VAR ruled out a lap for going off track early in the session. Alessandro Giusti finished thirteenth — narrowly missing out on pole position for the reverse grid in the Sprint race. Ultimately, it was Gerard Xie, winner of the Sprint in Monaco and twelfth in the main race, who will start from pole position on Saturday morning.

Next up is the Sprint race, which will take place on Saturday at 10 a.m. over 21 laps. Théophile Naël, who has been racking up pole positions in Australia, Monaco, and now Barcelona, looks set to be a frontrunner throughout the weekend.
