A week after a somewhat difficult weekend in Monaco, Rafael Câmara seems to have rediscovered his winning spirit at the start of this new event. On the Barcelona circuit, the Brazilian driver set the reference time of 1:29, three tenths faster than the personal best time of Frenchman Alessandro Giusti, second this morning. Mari Boya (Campos), third, is almost half a second behind the leader.

More generally, Trident may well have found some rhythm, far from the narrow and, above all, slower track of the Principality. Indeed, Charlie Wurz, Rafael Câmara's teammate, finished 4th, notably posting good times set consecutively, although six tenths of a second separates him from the lead regarding his personal best. Noah Stromsted, meanwhile, who was second in the championship, did not do better than the 11th time this morning.

16 drivers in one second in Barcelona

Just behind the Dane, Théophile Naël (VAR), the second Frenchman on the grid, took the checkered flag in 12th place. Outside the top 10, the Frenchman still remains within the same second as Câmara, as do 14 other drivers so far. These close results notably brought Santiago Ramos (VAR) and Nikola Tsolov (Campos) to 9th and 10th place. The last two winners of the Main Races at Imola and Monaco are at least hoping to repeat their performances on a circuit with a very different layout.

From 15:00 p.m. (French time), the 30 drivers on the grid will have a meeting with the qualifications, to be followed on Canal+ Sport.
