Italy – Main Race: Fornaroli champion at the end of the suspense, Meguetounif finishes with a victory

• Leonardo Fornaroli (Trident) is the new champion of Formula 3 ! In a race full of twists and turns, the Italian clinched the crown in the final moments of this 2024 season after a daring maneuver in the last corner to overtake Christian Mansell (ART Grand Prix). By surprising the Australian, the poleman of the day went on to claim third place which allowed him to secure the title.

• In front of him, Gabriele Mini (Prema) had done the hardest part and believed he had his first title in car since F4 Italy in 2020. On the last lap, his provisional second place and Leonardo Fornaroli's fourth temporarily assured him the title, but his compatriot turned everything upside down in the blink of an eye and his audacity was ultimately rewarded.
• Leonardo Fornaroli thus succeeds Gabriel Bortoleto, who was also crowned last year in the colours of the Trident. For the Italian, it is a title that takes priority above all for consistency because, rare but true, he has not won a single race this season! His end of the season proves it with three consecutive 3rd places in the Main Race, in addition to three other Sunday podiums won beforehand as well as two pole positions.
• Less prominent given the stakes behind him, Sami Meguetounif (Trident) ended his rookie campaign on a very good note. Starting 4th, the Tricolore took advantage of a very competitive race to position himself for victory. A mission carried out brilliantly since he took the lead on the 10th lap (out of 22) and never let go of it and won with a lead of almost 4 seconds. This is his second success of the year after the one at Imola last May.
