Monaco – Qualifying: Frenchman Théophile Naël snatches pole position

Placed in a particularly competitive group, Frenchman Théophile Naël managed to secure pole position on the streets of Monaco. The F3 driver follows up his pole position achieved in Melbourne.

Two qualifications of Formula 3 This season… And two pole positions for Théophile Naël! Driving for Campos, the Frenchman secured his second consecutive pole, this time on the streets of Monaco. Setting a time of 1:24.471, the driver from Saint-Étienne managed to put nearly half a second between himself and Briton Freddie Slater, who qualified second in his group. On the starting grid, however, the driver who will take the front row alongside the pole-sitter is none other than Brando Badoer. With a time of 1:24.612, he topped Group A, though he didn't manage to secure the overall fastest time.

During the session, no incidents were observed, facilitated in particular by the fact that two groups of 15 drivers were formed. However, Fionn McLaughlin touched one of the protruding walls of the Principality, preventing him from performing as he had hoped. The driver, supported by Red Bull finished 14th in Group A. It's worth noting that the session's top drivers – including Théophile Naël and Freddie Slater – also came close to, if not touching, the walls during their best times. American Ugo Ugochukwu, Naël's teammate, will start fourth, just ahead of fellow Campos driver Ernesto Rivera. The Mexican is making his return to competition, having missed all F3 weekends due to a back injury sustained this winter.
