Prema Racing has officially announced the signing of José Garfias for the 2026 FIA Formula 3 season. The Mexican driver, born in 2004 in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, will make his full-time debut in the series and will participate in pre-season testing this week at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. He will be joined by James Wharton and Louis Sharp.
After starting the karting In 2016, Garfias made his single-seater debut in 2020 in the NACAM F4 championship, where he distinguished himself as the best rookie. The following year, he discovered the European scene with partial participation in GB3 and FRECA.
In 2023, he focused on the Eurocup-3 series, where he achieved five podium finishes to finish fourth overall. His 2024 and 2025 seasons were marked by partial campaigns in both Eurocup-3 and Euroformula Open, with several podium finishes and three wins, culminating in a fourth-place finish in the final Euroformula Open standings in 2025. Last year, he also made his FIA debut. F3 and at the Macau Grand Prix.
