Victorious for the first time this season, Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak (Campos) chose his terrain well to make his mark. On the Silverstone circuit, the Thai driver managed to maintain his position, despite significant pressure from Théophile Naël at the start in particular. In this case, he was even the only driver in the top four on the starting grid to have managed to maintain his position, much to the chagrin of the Frenchman, who must be deeply disappointed.
Indeed, the Saint-Étienne driver started from fourth position on the starting grid. Taking advantage of Noël Leon's (Prema) poor start, Théophile Naël quickly got the better of Christian Ho (DAMS) before closing in on the leader. Impressively fast in the first part of the race, the VAR driver took control of the sprint for a while. He was nevertheless forced to give up his position due to an overtaking move made outside the track limits, despite an equally aggressive defense from the Thai driver, leaving his opponent no room for maneuver. Fighting for the podium, the Frenchman seemed to have paid for his efforts in the early laps, being overtaken by Mari Boya (Campos) after a bitter battle with Martinius Stenshorne (Hitech).
Fourth in the standings, Théophile Naël crossed the line with a ten-second penalty on his total time, deemed guilty of being too aggressive and exceeding track limits several times in his overtaking moves. In 12th, he was even demoted to 19th position after receiving an additional five seconds after the finish, and ultimately scored no points despite some great duels on the track.
Câmara once again performs a great operation
Starting tenth and finishing eighth, Rafael Câmara (Trident) can still consider himself lucky at the end of this race. The Brazilian, caught in a three-way battle with his two teammates Charlie Wurz and Noah Stromsted from the start, benefited from instructions from his team to stay ahead of the Austrian, who was nevertheless a very threatening driver. He was also able to take advantage of the consequences of a chaotic start for Nikola Tsolov (Campos), who crashed out in the first few corners and was forced to finish last in the race.
With Brando Badoer (Prema) having retired, he was responsible for the deployment of a safety car after the first lap, notably halting Théophile Naël's momentum at that point in the race. Alessandro Giusti (MP Motorsport), the other Frenchman on the grid, managed to climb from 17th to 13th place.
