Abu Dhabi Trials – Day 2: Goethe back on top of the standings, Herta progresses

Those aspiring to Formula 1 took to the track again at Yas Marina for a second day of post-season testing. F2, following the final of the category held in Abu Dhabi on December 7, 2025.

Fitted with supersoft tires, Oliver Goethe (MP Motorsport) once again set the fastest time of the day, improving on his own record set the previous day (1:37.203). During the morning session, he had clocked a time of 1:37.049.

Although Alex Dunne initially set the fastest time in the second practice session of the day, it was ultimately dominated by the champion of Formula 3Rafael Câmara (Invicta Racing) was on supersoft tires, fitted at the end of the session. Unlike the MP Motorsport driver, however, the Brazilian was unable to improve on his time from the first day.

Colton Herta, a Formula 2 rookie next season, seems to be adapting well to European cars, improving his time by a second compared to the previous day. The former driver ofIndyCar thus finished 14th on the second day.

The drivers now have just one more day to fine-tune their performances before the winter break. Sunnier weather is expected for this third and final day of testing at Yas Marina. The Formula 2 drivers will then return to their cars in February, in Bahrain. The season opener will then take place in Melbourne, alongside the Australian Grand Prix.
