Despite a race that lacked excitement on the track, Kean Nakamura-Berta at least succeeded in reigniting the suspense heading into the final race of the weekend – the last of this short Formula Regional Middle East season. Runner-up to Rashid Al Dhaheri since the end of the first meeting, the driver supported by Williams has secured a double pole position for the final two races of the season. Winner of the first race this afternoon, the Japanese driver will have the luxury of controlling his own destiny in this afternoon's race, which starts at 15:45 PM (French time).
Indeed, Rashid Al Dhaheri failed to launch a charge towards the front of the pack in this race. Starting sixth and finishing sixth, the Emirati will start ninth in Race 2 and will need a completely different scenario to clinch the title. Still leading after Race 1, the academy graduate Mercedes Benz will have to prove more, take more risks on the track, and try to close a sufficient gap with the leader to retain his place.

In practical terms, however, the task proves very difficult. Given the seven points now separating the two rivals, Rashid Al-Dhaheri will have to climb back up to second place if Kean Nakamura-Berta were to win again. In that scenario, since the Japanese driver has only won one race in this championship – compared to three for the current leader – Rashid Al-Dhaheri would then take the victory.
In the French camp, Andrea Dupé crossed the finish line in 13th and 16th places. The French team will need to take advantage of Race 2, the final event of this winter in the Middle East, to score their last points.
