The FREC program for 2026 is now known. The Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) and the Automobile Club d'Italia (ACI) have just unveiled the official calendar for the FIA Formula Regional European Championship (FREC), following its approval by the World Motor Sport Council.
In 2026, the FREC will visit eight circuits. The calendar will combine traditional two-race events with new three-race weekends, giving young drivers more mileage. The tour will begin in April in Austria and end in Hockenheim, Germany, in mid-September. Between these dates, Zandvoort (Netherlands), Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium), Monza (Italy), and other historic circuits will host the series. The French round will take place from July 17 to 19 at Circuit Paul Ricard.
“Finding the right balance between the number of trips and cost control is not easy at this level,” Emanuele Pirro, president of the FIA Single-Seater Committee, confirmed this via the official announcement. We want to offer young drivers the best possible experience as they transition from national to regional competition, maximizing their track time and introducing them to circuits that will truly test their skills.
He pursues : “The European Championship has always been the place where emerging talents from all over the world come to compete for the first time, and I’m sure it’s here that we’ll once again see the stars of tomorrow rise to the top. Whether they come from Formula 4 or another Formula Regional championship, we hope the FIA FREC will be the final stepping stone before the world championships.” F3, F2 and finally, F1 who are waiting for the best drivers.
