This marks the end of a major chapter in the world of... carEuropean and global news has taken a turn for the worse with the withdrawal of the Rosin family from the Prema team. Founder Angelo, along with his son René, his wife Grazia Troncon, and his daughter-in-law Angelina Ertsou, all left the team on Monday, leaving one of the giants of European junior formula racing without a captain just weeks before the start of the 2026 season.
In 2021, the Italian team was acquired by the Swiss holding company DC Racing Solutions, which also manages the Iron Lynx and Iron Dames projects. After numerous successes in Europe, the team, which has also discovered racing in recent years...Endurance in LMP2, turned to the United States last year, with a first season in IndyCar.
Two young drivers who had come through the Prema ranks at the time, Callum Ilott and Robert Shwartzman, were chosen to pilot the two green, white, and red cars throughout the season. It was Shwartzman who distinguished himself with an exceptional performance, securing pole position for the Indianapolis 500. This was the first time since 1983 that a rookie driver had achieved the feat of claiming pole position in the world's most prestigious open-wheel race. The two drivers achieved a total of six top-10 finishes during the 2025 season, with Shwartzman narrowly losing to Louis Foster in the battle for the Rookie of the Year award.
Sebastián Montoya and Mari Boya are the Prema drivers for the 2026 season. F2, while in Formula 3The Italian team is set to field Louis Sharp, James Wharton, and Frenchman Enzo Deligny. The team's future in IndyCar has been uncertain for several months, as it has openly sought an investor or buyer to continue its operations. The coming weeks should shed more light on Prema Racing's situation.
Esteban Ocon, Pierre Gasly, Oscar piastri, Charles Leclerc, Lance stroll and many others have won single-seater titles with Prema, one of the most successful teams of the last 40 years on the continent.
