Third in Race 1 and sixth in Race 2, Jules Caranta maintained his usual form at the end of the Eurocup-3 season in Barcelona. Having started his season with two encouraging results in Spielberg and Portimão (two podium finishes in as many weekends), the young French driver has been relatively consistent ever since. Despite a more challenging period this summer, he has continued to improve, culminating in this third-place finish last weekend.

"I feel good! Overall, it went well." he summarizes regarding this final round of the seasonIn both qualifying sessions and at the finish of both races, I was ahead of my teammates. Red BullApart from that, we were still fast all weekend. It's a shame simply because we made mistakes with our tire pressure during qualifying. The pace wasn't optimal in Race 1 either, but I still managed to defend my position. We corrected all of that for Race 2. I'm happy because it worked well. I was able to be on the attack rather than on the defense.

Caranta ends on a high note

Capable of achieving two pole positions this year – at the Red Bull Ring and Monza – but paradoxically more at the back of the field in races where his pace was there, Jules Caranta had to focus on his car's setup. car between mornings and afternoon races in Catalonia. "The first qualifying session took place on a dry track. Unfortunately, we had too much air and too much pressure in the tires." he explains to usSo I set my time on the first lap, but I couldn't improve afterwards while the others were doing so. On the second qualifying session, the track was wet. It was easier to make mistakes in those conditions. Unfortunately, it was pretty much the same scenario. We were fast at the beginning of the session, but towards the end it became a bit more complicated.

Despite being able to recover during the race, the Frenchman was able to adapt his approach between Saturday and Sunday. “In terms of pace, in race 1, we mainly wanted to manage the tires. We set up the car with a suitable setup. Since the pace wasn't what we expected, it didn't work as well as we had hoped. In the end, I found myself with a similar level of wear to the others. In race 2, we opted to be more aggressive, thinking a little less about degradation. We did the right thing. In the end, the pace didn't collapse as a result.”

Third best rookie of the season behind the champion, Mattia Colnaghi, and the Mexican Ernesto Rivera, Jules Caranta must now count on the support of Red Bull to be able to prove his progress in Eurocup-3 or in another championship from the start of the next season.
