Departure from Dorian PinMaya Weug, and Chloe Chambers, the 100% female championship of the F1 Academy saw new favorites emerge during this first race weekend in Shanghai. Alongside the Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix, a new grid of 18 competitors was formed to begin the fourth season of the series. Austrian Emma Felbermayr stood out on Chinese soil. Winner of Race 2 and third in Race 1 the previous day, the Rodin driver, supported by Audi, outshone her less experienced rivals, having already won a sprint race, in a reverse grid, last year.

Behind her, two drivers also familiar with the F1 Academy environment have emerged, as Alisha Palmowski and Nina Gademan are close behind the leader after this first session. Expected to be even more aggressive, Alisha Palmowski had managed to lead her car tinted with colors Red Bull in pole position for Race 2, but a poor start dashed her highest ambitions. Meanwhile, the Dutchwoman Nina Gademan, supported by Alpine She won Race 1 after qualifying eighth (and therefore starting from pole position). This was her second victory, having previously won in similar conditions at Zandvoort in 2025.

Regarding the French drivers on the 2026 F1 Academy grid, Lisa Billard distinguished herself by scoring points in both races of the weekend. Eighth in Race 1 and seventh in Race 2, the Normandy native leaves China with seven points, seemingly possessing the pace to secure at least a podium finish before the end of the season. Still learning the ropes, Jade Jacquet made a mistake in Race 2 while running in 11th position. Driving for WilliamsThe driver from northern France crossed the finish line in 13th place in the first of the two races and appears poised to score points soon during the year. However, she will be penalized five places on the next starting grid, having been found guilty of a collision with Esmee Kosterman.
