At 16, Lisa Billard will not discover driving an F4 in the city-state of Singapore, although the F1 Academy races are slightly different from traditional F4 races. Last weekend, she completed her first full season in F4 France, winning the title of best female driver. This weekend, Billard will become the youngest driver to compete as a wildcard, and she will drive a car sporting the colors of Gatorade, the championship's official sponsor.
The young French driver also took part in the rookie test organized by the F1 Academy in mid-September, where she set the second fastest time in the morning session and the fourth fastest time in the afternoon session.
“In the morning I had to adapt to the car and to a new team with a different engineer.”she explained. “It was nice to get to know a new car. Second place in the morning was a good result, then fourth place in the afternoon. This test will definitely help me for the future and it's a good opportunity to advance my career.”
Supported by the Iron Dames, Lisa Billard will certainly be keen to do a good job this weekend, in order to perhaps have a chance of driving in F1 Academy next season, as her compatriot is doing this season, for example. Dorian Pin, who is leading the championship.
