The pilots of the F1 Academy had the honor of opening the track this Sunday morning at the Gilles-Villeneuve circuit in Montreal. In particularly tricky conditions after the rain that fell before the start, the third race of the weekend offered an intense spectacle from the first to the last lap.
The race started on a soaking wet track, and misfortune immediately struck French rider Lisa Billard. Spurred into a collision by Ella Lloyd in the opening meters, the Normandy native found herself relegated to the back of the pack. Conversely, Jade Jacquet made an excellent start, gaining three positions on the first lap to break into the top 10.
And Palmowski takes flight
Up front, Alisha Palmowski got off to a perfect start and quickly took control of the race. Behind the Briton, a fierce battle raged in the peloton, particularly between Nina Gademan, Alba Larsen, and Ella Lloyd, who traded blows, sometimes literally, for the top spots.
As the laps progressed, the racing line gradually dried out but remained extremely tricky. There were numerous off-track excursions, but none of them required a Safety Car intervention. While positions stabilized in the middle of the pack, the battle for the podium intensified in the final laps.
Emma Felbermayr was thus putting intense pressure on Megan Bruce for second place. Under this constant threat, Bruce made a small mistake and hit the wall on the last lap, damaging her carThe Campos Racing driver nevertheless managed to reach the finish line with a heavily damaged car, but had to relinquish her position to Felbermayr.
After 17 laps of a thrilling race run without cautions, Alisha Palmowski emerged victorious by nearly ten seconds, capping off a remarkable weekend in Montreal. Emma Felbermayr finished second ahead of Megan Bruce.
On the French side, Jade Jacquet secured 11th place, her best career result in the discipline, while Lisa Billard finished 15th after her collision at the start.
