During the qualifications of the F1 Academy on the sidelines of the Singapore GP, Maya Weug (MP Motorsport) set the pole position time of 2:03.253 ahead of the Frenchwoman Dorian Pin (PREMA Racing), the favorite for the title. The driver supported by Classic Ferrari for sale thus secured its third pole position of the season ahead of its rival for the championship at the end of a session interrupted very early by a red flag.
The F1 Academy qualifying session in Singapore was quickly halted on track by the mishaps of Alisha Palmowski (Campos Racing), who hit the wall in the opening minutes of the session. The only casualty on the Marina Bay street circuit, this incident put an end to the first appearance on asphalt for the driver supported by Red BullThe British woman was in the top 3 in Free Practice this morning, but will ultimately start last in both races.
Behind Maya Weug and Doriane Pin, Chloe Chambers, supported by Red Bull Ford, completed the top three in this F1 Academy qualifying session. A fan of street circuits, the Parisian driver was aiming for better than her second-place finish in qualifying. Having already started second in 2024, she will need to get the better of Maya Weug if she wants to further extend her lead in the standings before the grand finale, scheduled for Las Vegas. Furthermore, slowed by traffic on what was supposed to be her final lap, "Pocket Rocket" made a final attempt under pressure, crossing the line just in time. However, her time of 2:03.495 only earned her second place by 0.42 thousandths of a second.
Although she is 20 points behind in the general classification, the championship runner-up thus has the opportunity to start side-by-side with the leader for the two races of the penultimate round of F1 Academy.

Frenchwoman Lisa Billard, stunning in her first qualification
At the start of the qualifying session, Lia Block had recorded the reference time of 2:10.474, closely followed by Lisa Billard, flying the Gatorade colors. The Frenchwoman – Wild Card this weekend – notably overtook the American with an impressive time of 2:05.906. She was herself dethroned by the British Ella Lloyd, who took the provisional pole position with a lap of 2:04.958, before the session was suspended by the red flag. It should also be remembered that Ella Lloyd, last year's Wild Card, is the only rookie familiar with this dangerous Marina Bay circuit.
It's worth noting that the remarkable Lisa Billard had once taken pole position with a time of 2:04.677. As track conditions improved and the single-seaters picked up speed, the Normandy driver was relegated to fifth place. Later in the session, she regained the upper hand over the regular drivers but was then dethroned by Chloe Chambers with a time of 2:03.761. It's worth noting that Lisa Billard is the only Wild Card of the season to qualify in the top 8: her final time put her in fifth place.
Scheduled for 9 a.m. (French time), Race 1 of F1 Academy will be broadcast on Canal+ Sport.
