Maya Weug won the second race of the weekend F1 Academy in Singapore. Long in the lead, Dorian Pin, who had dominated the race from start to finish, was finally overtaken by the Dutchwoman on the final lap, just after the safety car triggered by Nicole Havrda's accident was withdrawn. The junior Classic Ferrari for sale thus reduces the gap in the championship and now only has nine points behind on her French rival before the final round, scheduled in Las Vegas from November 20 to 22. Ella Lloyd completed the podium, securing her fifth top 3 finish of the season in her first year in F1 Academy and moving up to third position in the standings.
Having started from second place, Doriane Pin had mastered her start perfectly, diving aggressively down the inside to take the lead over Maya Weug, who was on pole, at the first corner. The two competitors then traded fastest laps for most of a generally uneventful race.

Maya Weug's dramatic turn of events in the Singapore rain
When rain arrived at Marina Bay late in the race, disrupting visibility and the cars' grip, Nicole Havrda lost control and was forced to retire for the second time this weekend, and the fifth time this season. While several teams called their drivers back to the pits to switch from slick to wet tires, the leading trio chose instead to stay on track behind the newly deployed safety car.
On the restart, Maya Weug, however, took the lead from her rival, surprising her on the inside before winning a lap later and securing her third victory of the season. Doriane Pin, who was very comfortable on a dry track, suffered the consequences of a bold decision, but it didn't pay off for her.
