The chevrons are already pointing towards the summit in Formula EFor the opening round of season 12 in São Paulo this Saturday, Citroën has already secured a podium finish in a race marked by numerous retirements. Stellantis' summer signing, Nick Cassidy, finished third, behind only winner Jake Dennis (Andretti) and reigning champion Oliver Rowland (Nissan). It wasn't a sure thing for the New Zealander, who started only 15th on the grid after a disappointing qualifying session.

« I am very happy for the entire Citroën Racing team: achieving a podium finish in our first race together is truly something very special. confided the one who will also be piloting for Peugeot en WEC in 2026. We worked so hard on this car during the off-season to be ready for the first race. Free practice went really well and I was confident. I was disappointed with my qualifying because we have a competitive car and I wasn't able to show its full potential. But it all came down to the race and all that hard work finally paid off! »

Things weren't all rosy for Citroën, because although he led the race, Jean-Éric Vergne was ultimately forced to retire near the end due to a mechanical problem. It was a difficult race for me, with this technical problem at the end of the event preventing me from restarting after the red flag. explains the Frenchman. I think we could have aimed for P7, so it's a shame to lose those points. We still managed a good qualifying session, though. Now we need to work with the team to analyze our areas for improvement. On the positive side, Nick secured the team's first podium, which is fantastic, especially in the first race of the season. So it was a good day for the team in that respect, and I really hope we can continue this momentum, ideally with a better race for me next time in Mexico! »

See you in Mexico City on January 10, 2026 for the continuation of season 12 of Formula E.

A rather positive start for the Maserati coffee grinders... oops, sorry, the Citroëns. An encouraging return to single-seaters for the Red Chevrons; the MEP X27 from the late sixties has thus found a worthy successor!
