After 38 action-packed laps, Nick Cassidy (Citroën) won the 150th race in the history of the World Rally Championship. Formula EScheduled in Mexico, the weekend's E-Prix saw the driver secure his first victory with Citroën, in what was only his second appearance with the brand. Edoardo Mortara and Oliver Rowland finished close behind, after a race that was neutralized twice.
Starting 13th on the grid, Cassdy had nevertheless spent the first half of the race outside the top 10. But after conserving a lot of energy, he switched into attack mode for six minutes, shortly after a long safety car period to recover the immobilized Mahindra. Nyck de VriesA winning strategy, as he moved back up through the pack before taking the lead in the final laps. He then never relinquished it.
The task was not easy, as in the final laps, many of his competitors were still pushing hard. Despite this, he crossed the finish line six-tenths of a second ahead of Edoardo Mortara (Mahindra). Oliver Rowland, after running wide early in the race, also made up considerable ground on his rivals to secure the final step on the podium.
The pole sitter for the event, Sébastien Buemi, had a much less enjoyable E-Prix. Going wide at turn 1, he saw his afternoon's efforts come to nothing. Having climbed back up to 6th position, he was then forced to return to the pits by a tire issue. The former driver of Formula 1 ultimately finished 17th with the car from Envision.
Frenchmen Jean-Éric Vergne and Norman Nato finished their race in Mexico in 8th and 10th positions.
