The 12 season of Formula E, spanning the calendar years 2025 and 2026, has been deprived of one date. In the initial calendar, 18 meetings were planned with two slots still to be filled, those of May 30 and June 20. Finally, only the second was allocated with the arrival, or rather the return, of Sanya.

The Sanya E-Prix, a Chinese seaside city located on Hainan Island, already took place on March 23, 2019. A good memory for Jean-Éric Vergne since the new Citroën driver won this first edition in the colors of Techeetah-DS. The second, scheduled for the 2019-2020 season, was canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the 2,236-kilometer circuit has never returned since. It will be done, therefore, on June 20.

If Formula E and the World ChampionshipEndurance have managed to avoid date conflicts for 2026, however, note that this new Asian meeting will take place just a week after the 24 Hours of Le Mans, which will require certain logistics and a rapid adaptation time for the pilots engaged on both fronts.

With the return of Sanya, China will host no fewer than three races this coming season. Two weeks later, the paddock of the electric championship of car will travel to Shanghai for a double leg. The Middle Kingdom will be the only country visited twice during this season.

Punta del Este in Uruguay, Cape Town in South Africa, Hong Kong in China, New York City in Trumpland—all places that have disappeared from the coffee grinder racing calendar. The Chinese are happy, two rounds at the home of the Red Emperor Xi!
