Little by little, the grid of Formula E The Madrid Rookie Test is filling up. Following the Madrid E-Prix, the Spanish capital will welcome – on March 22nd – drivers from all backgrounds looking to discover or get to grips with Formula E. As part of this track day, Frenchman Théophile Naël, a driver of Formula 3 alongside Campos in 2026, and winner of the Macau Grand Prix in 2025, has had his participation officially confirmed by Mahindra. The Indian team will thus form a duo between the Frenchman and the Indian Kush Maini, a member of Formula 2, and member of the academy Alpine.
As he begins his second F3 season, Théophile Naël is preparing to discover Formula E during this Rookie Test. Until now, he has been very quick to seize opportunities – as evidenced by his participation in Macau despite already having completed a year in Formula 3 – but the Saint-Étienne native continues to aim for climbing the ranks of the series. car up to the Formula 1.
“First of all, a huge thank you to Mahindra Racing for giving me this opportunity to participate in the Rookie Test. These tests are important for me to demonstrate my abilities on the track and to work with a team at the level of a world championship.” the Frenchman rejoices. Jarama is a circuit I've never raced on, so there will be a lot to take in on race day. The Gen3 Evo M12Electro is also a very different car from anything I've driven before. I'll be following the team closely during the E-Prix, especially Nyck and Edo, as they are both very talented and experienced drivers, and I'm looking forward to learning from each of them during my time in Madrid.
As the 2023 Spanish F4 champion and a member of the Valencia-based Campos team, Théophile Naël is further strengthening his ties with Spain in motorsport. With the introduction of Gen4 cars to the Formula E World Championship just months away, the question remains whether this option will become a genuine development opportunity for drivers aiming for Formula 1.
